- Created a wedding website--reduces paper waste by eliminating printed maps, directions, etc. Plus it was fun:)
- Recycled paper for the invitations, programs, etc. A no-brainer for us!
- Postcard RSVP to reduce paper waste by eliminating the extra envelope. Hey, all that paper adds up!
- The centerpieces: Home grown potted plants are more eco-friendly than cut flowers. Did I mention they will be potted in recycled containers?
- Clothing: we chose attire that we can wear again and will wear items we already own whenever possible.
- The ceremony and reception site are < 0.5 miles apart. A short 5-10 minute stroll for those willing to walk.
- Real linens for the reception because they look nice, reduce waste, and were rented or purchased from brides who needed them no more!
- The reception dinnerware is a thrift store/vintage collection put together by many people and used for many celebrations before ours (and hopefully for many after). Also, instead of registering for new dinnerware, we will be selecting our favorite pieces from this collection to use at home.
- Drink coasters at the reception for our guests convenience but also because they're made of recycled chip board and hold up better than disposable napkins.
- Generally, we're avoided unnecessary decoration and additional "stuff" because many times "stuff" = trash!

doing it green...
If you've perused this website, you've probably already know we're attempting to make choices to reduce the environmental impact of our wedding. I thought you might like to know how. So here are some examples...

Tom, Tommy, or Thomas?
For those of you who don't have the pleasure of knowing Tommy personally, you might be a bit confused with all the constant name changing. That's because if you're talking to me, I use them all!
Here's the deal: Tom often introduces himself as Thomas. His family and long-time friends almost exclusively call him Tommy. More recent friends usually use Tom.
Due to my constant interchanging of names when we were first dating, many of my friends call him TomTommyThomas--all one word, no breathes!!!!
Feel free to use any (or all) of the names. Tommy doesn't care.

Gifts?
Have we told you how appreciative we are that you will be there to celebrate our wedding with us? We really believe your support for our marriage is your gift to us. So we've chosen not to create a traditional gift registry. If you insist on giving a gift, please consider donating to a charity that is special to us...
Student Conservation Association (SCA):
We love SCA's commitment to education and conservation. This organization is especially significant to Tommy as SCA introduced him to the use of ecologically driven prescribed fire.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society:
Cancer has deeply affected both Sarah and Tommy's loved ones as it has for many others. Anything we can do to help prevention, detection, and treatment is a worthy cause.
American Red Cross:
We want to help those suffering from unexpected events and natural disasters. We can't always be there in person to help out, but the Red Cross helps get our money where it's needed most.
Please visit our online charity registry for more information on these organizations or to make a donation.

the wedding party...
Standing next to Sarah will be her twin big sisters, Amy and Carrie. Five years her elder, these wonderful ladies are more than family--they are dear friends.

Sarah's three adorable nieces
will all be in the wedding.
Myla (5), the flower girl
Jacelynn (8), the candle lighter
Ripley (2), the ring bearer

Technically, Daniel is Tommy's only brother, but his longtime friend Nate might as well be! Both Daniel and Nate will stand next to Tommy on the big day.
